Alderson-Ford Funeral Homes Inc - CheshireVirginia Lee Fowler, 77, of Wallingford, wife of the late Donald R. Fowler, passed away on October 27, 2025. Virginia was born on October 6, 1948 in Waterbury, CT to the late Herbert Knutson and Virginia Kernochan Burton.
Ginny received an Associate’s Degree from Vermont College and began her career as a bank teller at a local Cheshire Bank. After starting a family, she began working as a medical secretary for Pediatric Associates of Cheshire where she stayed for almost 30 years. She saw many Cheshire children grow up and start their own families while working for Dr. Mirkhani and later Dr. Chinchilla. She enjoyed traveling the world, having visited many European cities over the years, as well as tropical beaches of the Caribbean, particularly St. Martin.
A lifelong Cheshire resident, Ginny retired to Venice, Florida in 2012 and remained there until 2020. She returned to Wallingford, Connecticut to live in Ashlar Village near her family.
She leaves behind her son, Gregory Fowler, his wife Danielle and grandchildren Allison and Avery; her brother, Mark Burton, his wife Diane and children Brad, Sydney, and Kyle; her brother, Jeffery Burton, wife Amanda and children Jack, Alexa, and Nev; her brother, Herbert Knutson, late wife Ellen and children Jessica and Erik; her sister-in-law, Paula Fowler; and friends from the Ashlar Village community.
Ginny also leaves behind longtime friends. Her lifelong friend group formed in first grade with whom she shared many milestones, vacations, and celebrations over the years. Barbie, Beverly, Joan, Alice, and Chris (also a longtime friend who met the group later on) as well as Pam and Rich who have been friends with Ginny and Don since meeting during their honeymoon. They will miss her dearly.
Family and friends are invited to join us for a Celebration of Life on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Ashlar Village, 74 Cheshire Rd, Wallingford, CT. Once inside the community, take a left at the second stop sign and guest parking is Lot #3.The Celebration will take place at Bridgehouse Auditorium B (flagpole out front).
