Virginia Haske Obituary
Virginia Haske (Richmond), born May 20, 1955, passed away at the age of 69, on June 3, 2024, after a brief and unexpected stay at the Aurora BayCare Intensive Care Unit in Green Bay, surrounded by her family.
Virginia, better known as Gini or Grandma Gini to those close to her, was the daughter of the late Wayne and Estelle (Torstenson) Richmond. She lived in Algoma since 1960 and graduated from Algoma High School. Virginia was a huge proponent of higher education, completing the Medical Assistant Program from NWTC, Bachelor degrees in accounting and finance from UWGB, and a Masters of Business Administration from UW-Oshkosh.
Virginia was an entrepreneur who started the Ceramic Shoppe in 1979 and her own CPA practice in Algoma in 1986. Virginia had a lifelong commitment to public service that included many years as an elected Mayor of the City of Algoma, Alderperson for the City of Algoma, and Member of the Kewaunee County Board. She was an active volunteer and board member for the Violence Intervention Project, including serving as Board President, and for LakeShore Cap. She was previously on the board of directors for the Kewaunee County Food Pantry, Kewaunee County Economic Development, Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce, Algoma Mainstreet, St. Mary Parish Council, Bay Lake Regional Planning, and various statewide organizations that are too numerous to mention.
Virginia was blessed with three children; Angela (Lee) Whipp, De Pere; Jessica (Jake) Legois, Green Bay; and Ryan (Brenda) Stoller, Algoma. She married John Haske in 1997 and John and Gini had 26 loving years together. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents. Virginia is survived by her spouse, three sisters: Debra (Gary) Richmond-Rockwood, Eau Claire; Cindy (John) Wojtczak, New Franken; and Wanda DuChateau, Algoma; three children, ten grandchildren: David and Julia Whipp; Cayden, Jacob, Holly, and Kaylee Legois; Abagale and Hunter Stoller; and Preston and Danica Lemm; two great grandchildren Liam and Atlas; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a public visitation for Virginia, Friday, June 7th, 2024, at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, from 4:00 PM until the prayer service at 7:00 PM with Father Andrew Kurz. Visitation will continue from 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Algoma, until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Father Andrew Kurz officiating. Burial to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery. Lunch service, provided by the Rosary Society, will follow at St. Mary Catholic Church.
Virginia's wishes are that monetary donations be directed to the Kewaunee County Violence Intervention Project, Inc. and LakeShore Cap.
