Mrs. Virginia Woody Hubbard, age ninety-one, departed this life and entered into eternal rest early Wednesday morning, December 11, 2024 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, North Carolina. She was born in Person County October 15, 1933 to the late Mable Woody Hubbard and Arzie Reed and was a member of First Baptist Church in Roxboro, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lacy Hubbard; and a son, Darnell Hubbard.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, children: Bruce Woody (Musibau) of Roxboro, North Carolina, Cheryl Hubbard of Temple Hills, Maryland, Lisa Knight (Charles) of Capitol Heights, Maryland and Bernard Hubbard and Edward Woody, both of Temple Hills, Maryland; grandchildren: Nikita Hubbard of Washington, DC, Alicia Hubbard, also of Capitol Heights, Malik Washington of Sacramento, California, Maurice Hubbard of District Heights, Maryland, Troy Hubbard of Washington, DC, Randy Hubbard of District Heights, Stephone White of Temple Hills, KeShon Hubbard and Devin Hubbard, both of District Heights and Lorenzo Thompson of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of great-grandchildren; one brother, Dock Ragland (Gloria) of Roxboro; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church, 14 Main Circle, Roxboro, North Carolina 27573 with the Reverend Kenneth Stokes, Pastor, providing the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Jones Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, 780 Barnette Tingen Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27574. Visitation will be Monday at Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Home from 1:00pm to 6:00pm with the family present during the last hour from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
Her body will lie in state at the church from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, one hour prior to the service.
