Virginia Koonse

Virginia Allene Koonse, 73, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, CA. Visitation will be 10am-11am on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton, Missouri. Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM also at the chapel. Burial to follow at the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. Friends and family are invited to gather in celebration of a life well lived and deeply loved.

Virginia Koonse, daughter of Virgil and Louise (Baker) Martin, was born February 2, 1952, in Clinton, Tennessee. Virginia was raised on the Martin family farm in Post Oak, MO. Virginia graduated from Leeton High School. Virginia attended UCM in Warrensburg, MO where she met her husband, Steven Koonse. They were married in April 1974 and settled in Leeton, MO, and together they shared more than fifty years of marriage.

Virginia was a home maker and farmer. She volunteered for various activities through Leeton School and St. Bartholomew Church in Windsor, MO. She enjoyed serving her community via cooking at the spaghetti and lasagna dinners.

She enjoyed traveling, hitting the road, and finding good deals at thrift stores. She loved living life on the open road. She approached life with a deep sense of adventure.

She is survived by her husband, Steven, and three children, April Koonse (James Pegram) Beasley, TX.; Betty Koonse (Mike Lay) St Louis, MO; and John Koonse (Hailie), Olathe, KS. Four grandchildren Violet Koonse, Lilly Lay, Wesley Koonse, and TJ Koonse.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.
