Virginia Maitland Obituary

Michigan. She was born on September 12, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio.
Virginia is survived by her granddaughters, Corrie (Tom) Owen and Lori (Paul) Wilson; great-
grandchildren, Caleb Owen, Jacob Owen and Cole Wilson; and her former daughter-in-law,
Kathie Maitland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Pauline Dudyk; her son, Orville E.
Maitland; and her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jasienski.
Virginia was deeply proud of her service in the United States Navy. In the years that followed,
she remained active in several women's veterans groups, cherishing the camaraderie and
shared purpose they brought to her life. A gifted pianist with a lifelong love of music, she
generously shared her talent by playing at the West Point Lounge, the Jackson County Medical
Care Facility, and various other nursing homes, offering joy and comfort through her music. She
was also an avid bowler and a devoted Detroit Tigers fan. Virginia's long life, warm spirit, and steadfast dedication to service will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Cremation has taken place, and she will be laid to rest at Fort Custer.
