A Time to Be Born
Virginia Eaddy Martin, affectionately known by her family and loved ones as "Aunt Gin" 0r simply "Gin", was born on June 11, 1941, in Fork, South Carolina, to the late Wallace Eaddy and Addie Mae Eaddy. She was educated in the Dillon C0unty School System and graduated from Columbus High School in 1958.
A Time to Learn
Virginia pursued higher education at Morris College, where she majored in Elementary Education and proudly represented her alma mater as Miss Morris College. She later earned her Master's Degree in Education from South Carolina State College.
A Time to Serve
A devoted educator and lifelong learner, Mrs. Martin dedicated her professional life to shaping young minds as a teacher of Mathematic and Exceptional Education. She served faithfully in the Dillon and Marion County School System until her retirement on June 30, 1993, after a long and impactful career. Even in retirement, she continued her passion for education by teaching Adult Education, helping countless adults reach their academic goals. A true pioneer, she also made history as the first female bus driver for Columbus High School – a reflection of her courage, determination, and trailblazing spirit.
A Time to Love
Virginia was united in marriage to the late Charles J. Martin, with whom she shared a deep and loving bond. Their union was blessed with one son, the late Charrick Todd Martin, who brought immense joy to their lives. Virginia was proceed in death by her siblings; Felton (Lucinda) Eaddy; Addie Mae Eaddy, Charlotte (Georide) Edwards; Limous Dozier D "L.D." (Allease) Eaddy; Jasper (Leola) Eaddy and Andrew (Mary) Eaddy.
A Time to Worship
A Lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Fork, South Carolina, Virginia loved the Lord and served faithfully throughout her life. Her steadfast faith, gentle spirit, and commitment to Christian service were evident in her every word and deed.
A Time to Enjoy Life
Virginia lived a life full of grace, laughter, and love. She adored cooking for family gatherings, traveling with friends, and expressing herself through her impeccable sense of style – a true fashionista whose elegance was matched only by her warm heart. "Aunt Gin" brought joy to every room she entered and created lasting memories through her kindness and wit.
A Time to Remember
On November 2, 2025, Mrs. Virginia Eaddy Martin peacefully transitioned from labor to reward. Her legacy of faith, service, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply loved by her beloved nephews and nieces: Wilson (Beverly) Eaddy of Marion, SC; Ellen (James) McGill of Orange Park, FL; Professor Felton Eaddy of Fork, SC; Chris Hollie Goldwyn of Jamaica Queens, NY; Dr. Matrell (Leon) Sturkey of Marion, SC; Monica Eaddy of Rock Hill, SC; Jerith (Susan) Eaddy of Marion, SC; James Brown of Brooklyn, NY; Ruthena Edwards of Florence, SC; Violia Edwards of
Mullins, SC and special cousin Vivian Rogers of Marion; along with a host of other relatives and dear friends who loved her dearly.
A Time of Peace
Though she has departed this earthly life, the spirit of "Aunt Gin" – her laughter, grace, and devotion – will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
