Virginia R Olenz

Virginia of Oak Brook, passed away peacefully on February 13th, 2024 at the age of 98. She was an only child born to John and Bess Tunnis, née Pihera. She is survived by her two sons, Randy and Gary, daughter-in-law Cathy, née Norbut; and two grandchildren Amy and Nick (wife Christina).
Virginia was an outgoing and genuinely likable person whom many also describe as always being grand and gracious. She was a strong, loving, caring, faithful woman who was very devoted to her family and raising her two boys largely solo.
Virginia played many roles in her life, being a stay-at-home Mom for her sons, and later reentering the working world quickly reaching a retail manager position at Lord and Taylor. Later in life she took on administrative-assistant roles in various smaller businesses, and actively worked until she was 80.
Family always came first, and keeping in touch with friends and cousins was very important to her. She enjoyed traveling, reading, volunteering as a Deaconess at Christ Church Oak Brook and just being a grandma. She truly lived up to what it meant to be part of the "Greatest Generation" (1901-1927) and will be dearly missed.
