Virginia Mae Purdy, 83, a lifelong resident of Falmouth, KY, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Carespring Transitional Care Center in Cold Spring, KY. Born on July 10, 1940, in Mason County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Caleb and Thelma Gallagher Cooper. Mae loved being Charles Thomas "Tom" Purdy's wife, and together they lived their faith, loved their family and friends, and supported their community until he preceded her in death on April 4, 2003. A familiar face at the office of optometrist Dr. James Ernst, Mae worked as a receptionist in his Pendleton County practice. She was a member of the Trinity Southern Baptist Church, where she remained active in church activities for as long as her health allowed. Remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Mae will be missed by the many lives she touched.
Surviving are her children: Rocky Hughes (Juanita), Cyndi Martin (Mike), Randy Hughes (Tina), and Charlie Purdy (Sharon); several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters: Nancy Wolfe and Pearl England; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Abram Crozier and Bro. Mike Flynn officiating. The visitation will be from 10-1 pm on Saturday preceding the service. Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Immediately following the interment, family and friends are invited to her church for a special meal prepared by Grassy Creek Christian Church, Harvest Community Church, and Trinity Southern Baptist Church. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association: 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
