Virginia E. Rutter
The Plains - Virginia E. Rutter, 82, of The Plains, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born January 5, 1942, in Athens, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary Locke Barnes. Virginia loved a good cup of coffee, soap operas, Bath and Body Works and collecting snowmen. She never shied away from the dance floor where she could be found wearing her go go boots and skirt. Above all else, her family was her everything.
Virginia is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Jeff Rutter; three daughters, Brenda Karnes, Glenna Parry and Cheryl Champ; twelve grandchildren, Rachel, Tara, Niki, David, Charles, Donald, Matthew, Gerrad, Amanda, Elisha, Tanya and Carlye; many great and great great grandchildren; four brothers, Clarence Davis, Jimmie (Linda) Davis, Jerry Merrit and Earl Barnes; one sister, Diane Merrit and her two best friends, Donna Efaw and Kim Snyder;
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jessica Parry; one great granddaughter, Alexandrea Bishop and six other great grandchildren; two son-in-laws, Jeff Champ and Chuck Parry; two sisters, Madonna Morris and Patty Wright and two brothers, Lloyd Barnes and Curtis Barnes.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the Hughes Funeral Home in Athens, Ohio. Burial will be in the Hilltop Cemetery in Millfield, Ohio. Visitation will be on Sunday, August, 18, 2024 at the Hughes Funeral Home from 3:00 - 6:00 PM. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at ehwfh.com. The family would like to express their thanks to the Hospice nurse Becky and to all the home health care providers.
