Virginia Mae Smith, 87,of Goodrich, MI, passed away on March 21st, 2025, at Lilac Home in Dilworth, Minnesota.
She was born Sept 28, 1937, the second child of Laverne and Loretta Rudd (Kline) in Pontiac, MI. She met her husband Richard in junior high school. They both attended Pontiac Central School and she graduated in 1958. They were married on March 28th, 1959.
Virginia and Richard moved to Oxford in 1967 with their daughters Pamela and Trisha. They attended Vision Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. Virginia also worked as a house cleaner in order to help with tuition at Oxford Christian Academy for her daughters. She also was a cheerleading coach there.
Virginia loved to sew and would make curtains and many outfits for her daughters Pam and Trisha and her grandchildren Eric and Elizabeth. She also loved to flower garden and can vegetables from Richard’s garden.
She loved shopping for antique furniture for the Cape Cod house that her husband Richard built for her in 1982 in Goodrich. They were members of Faith Baptist Church in Davison, MI, for many years and she volunteered in the Children’s Department for decades.
Virginia and Richard relocated to the Fargo region in June of 2021 in order to be closer to her grandchildren and eventually her great grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by daughter Pamela (Craig) Holland of Fargo, ND; Trisha (Darren) McGrew of Keota, OK; grandchild Eric (Kate Harrington) Holland of Lino Lakes, MN; grandchild Elizabeth Holland of Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren Jack Donald Holland and Alice Louise Holland of Lino Lakes, MN. She is also survived by her younger sister Deborah Ives of Waterford, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne and Loretta and her siblings Janette, James, LaVerne, Douglas.
