Vivian L Griffith

Vivian L. "Murphy" Griffith was born May 8, 1925, in Sherman, Texas to William Gilbert Murphy and Yorkie Hamilton Murphy.
Vivian attended school in Sherman, Texas and was 1942 graduate of Fred Douglas High School in Sherman, Texas. She also attended Prairie View A&M University.
She was very active in her community and served on the Board of Directors of the Denison Girl's Club, was a volunteer with the Texas Extension Homemakers Association, was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and served on the St. Patrick's Alter Society and was a volunteer at the Jack and Jill Day Care Center. Vivian also volunteered as a voting election official for several years.
Vivian enjoyed cooking and baking and shared her famous pound cakes with many who knew her. Gardening and Canning were a big part of Vivian's life, and she passed that same passion on to several of her children. Vacationing, Camping, Fishing, and traveling to numerous lakes was also a regular activity that Vivian shared with Timothy and their kids. She also enjoyed exercise classes at the Denison Senior Center.
Tim married Vivian Luvenia Murphy in 1943, and to this union, seven children were born. Two of them, Joyce Marie and Ronald Gene, preceded her in death. Vivian was married to Timothy for 77 years.
Those left to cherish so many fond memories are her children, Michael W. Griffith (Loretta) of Red Oak, Hugh A. Griffith (Machalle) of Mesquite, Agnes Griffith Douglas (Doug) of Ovilla, Sandra Griffith Jones of Dallas, Winifred Griffith Jones (Greg) of Midlothian; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral service for Vivian will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Thames officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Family and friends will gather to visit one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Doug Douglas, John Henry Douglas III, Greg Jones, and Jerry Maynard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Hugh Griffith, Michael Griffith, and James White.
