Our Heavenly Father called His daughter, Vivian Charlene (Godwin) Hejnal, home on October 7, 2025, from Lake City, Michigan, at the age of 70.
Vivian, better known as Vickie, was born in San Antonio, Texas, on February 24, 1955, to Ann Wasserman and Charlie Godwin. She grew up in a military family and later moved to Alaska, where she met her husband of 52 years, Richard (Rick) Hejnal. They were married on June 30, 1973, in a beautiful ceremony at Fort Richardson, Alaska.
Throughout their years together, Vickie and Rick relocated several times with the military to places such as Germany, Texas, Alaska, and Virginia before settling in Andalusia, Alabama, where she worked at CCB Community Bank. After retiring, they moved to Lake City, Michigan, where Vickie enjoyed her retirement by cruising on Carnival Cruises as often as she could, playing bingo throughout the week, visiting with family and friends, and cheering loud and proud for Alabama football - Roll Tide!
Vickie is survived by her husband, Rick Hejnal; her two sons, Travis (Janelle) Hejnal of Norfolk, Virginia, and CJ (Leslie) Hejnal; her grandchildren, Ian (Kailey), Connor, Alexis, James, Joseph, and Jacob; her great-grandchildren, Madelynn and Everett; her mother, Ann Wasserman of Andalusia, Alabama; her sister, Terri Davis of Andalusia, Alabama; and her brother, Chuck Godwin of Milton, Florida; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Godwin.
A Celebration of Life for Vickie will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at The Grove Church in Lake City, Michigan, and will be presided over by Pastor Doug Boonstra. Please join us as we share stories and say farewell to a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend - Vivian (Vickie) Hejnal.
The family is being served by the Young-Holdship Funeral Home of Lake City. Words of comfort and memories may be shared on www.holdshipfuneralhomes.com.
