Frederick "Fred" Fleischfresser of Cadillac passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. He was 79 years old and had spent his later years living at Pleasant Lake Lodge, Inc. Assisted Living Homes of Cadillac, where he was deeply loved by staff and residents alike.
Fred was born on August 7, 1946, to Emil and Beatrice (Rulf) Fleischfresser in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating high school, he proudly answered the call to serve his country in the United States Air Force in 1965. When his service ended, Fred began his career as a truck driver-an industry he loved and dedicated nearly 50 years of his life to before retiring.
On January 1, 1973, Fred married the love of his life, Diane Kay (Cox) Fleischfresser, in Phoenix, Arizona. Together they built a beautiful life full of laughter, love, and adventure. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal ceremony, a memory he deeply cherished.
Fred had a heart for people and a laugh that could fill a room. He was a jokester through and through-always ready with a witty remark, a story, or a prank to make someone smile. His sense of humor, kindness, and love for others made him a joy to be around. His laugh was contagious, and his presence made every space brighter.
A handyman by nature, Fred could always be found tinkering in the garage or taking something apart to "see how it worked." More often than not, whatever he was tinkering with still didn't work when he was finished-but that never stopped him from trying again. He loved working on puzzles with a cup of coffee nearby and enjoyed simply spending time with family and friends.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Diane Fleischfresser; his children, Jeff Adamson of North Carolina and Tony (Kristi) Fleischfresser of Cadillac; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many dear friends who became like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Beatrice Fleischfresser; and children, Lisa Adamson, Jack Adamson, and Ronald Fleischfresser.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 3 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 815 Lincoln Street, Cadillac, MI 49601.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Pleasant Lake Lodge, 2085 S. 33 1/2 Road, Cadillac, MI 49601.
