Vivian Montini Obituary

Vivian Mary Montini, 94 of Lanesborough, MA, passed away August 20, 2025.

Born in Pittsfield, MA on July 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Orsolena Bonanate Traversa. She was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School, where she served as class treasurer.

Vivian married Bruno Montini on April 25, 1953 at All Souls Church in Pittsfield. He predeceased her on June 6, 2014.

Vivian was primarily a homemaker. Over her working career she worked at Shapiro Motors, Greylock Plastics, and General Electric. After retiring she worked part time at Macy's Department Store.

Vivian was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and she was the first organist at the All Souls Chapel in the 1940s. She enjoyed crafts, folk art painting, cooking and traveling.

What mattered most to Vivian were her family and friends. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her greatest joy was spending time with them.

Vivian is survived by her daughters, Melissa LaRocque and fiance Chuck Roberts of Bedford, NH, and Karen Balardini and husband James of Hinsdale, MA; her son, Ronald Montini and wife Karen of Lanesborough, MA. Seven grandchildren, Brendan (Jessica), Ryan and Meredith LaRocque, Nicholas (Jessica) and Andrew Murdock, and Matthew (Jessica) and Kathryn Montini. As well as several nieces and nephews and her life long friend Kitty Procopio.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Traversa and wife Mary.

My sincerest condolences to Vivian's family.

Vivian shared a room with my mother (Marjorie) last year at Greylock. She was a sweet person and she and my Mom watched out for each other while recuperating. We had many wonderful conversations while I was visiting. Our families grew up not far from each other in the Lakewood area, so we had some good stories from the "old days". And Vivian, my sister, and I even had a fun little competition going to see who swatted the most fruit flies in the room!

May Vivian rest peacefully and may your heavy hearts soon be lifted and filled with fond memories of your loved one.

Sincerely,
Doreen
