VJ Lefoy Smith, Jr., 82, of Lyman, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Born in Inman, South Carolina on February 9, 1943, he was the son of the late Inez (Horton)Smith and VJ Lefoy Smith, Sr. and was the husband of Mary Caroline (Blackwell) Smith having celebrated 59 years of marriage.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, served in the United States Army during Vietnam, was a volunteer Fireman at North Spartanburg Fire Department and retired from Spartanburg County as a 911 Supervisor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Janet Smith, of Wellford, South Carolina; two sons, Benji Smith and his wife Dana of Lyman, South Carolina and Brian Smith, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Adelyn Smith and Ashlyn Smith and his sister-in-law, Ruby Bishop and her husband Howard of Inman, South Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, South Carolina
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Seawright Funeral Home in Inman, South Carolina with Rev. Monty King officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman, South Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 842 Mt. Zion Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
