W. Boyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 26, 2025.
W. Larry Boyer, 85, of Butler, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, after a short battle with leukemia.

Born January 16, 1940, in Butler, he was the son of the late Wilbert L. and the late Edwina (Wagner) Boyer.

Larry was a graduate of Butler High School, and went on to attend Robert Morris College. He then was drafted by the US Army, and served his country honorably while in Korea. Larry was a long time attendant of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, in Butler. He worked for McCarren's Clothing for 30 years, and then Milo Williams Jewelers and Robert Stephens Jewelers, until his retirement in 2001. He had an eye for decorating, and you would always see his talent on display in the windows of these Butler businesses. Larry loved attending Drum and Bugle competitions; especially supporting D.C.I. He also enjoyed reading, yard work with his flowers, his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn (Loutzenhiser) Boyer, whom he married on August 5, 1967, two sons, Samuel K. (Natalie S.) Boyer and Peter R. Boyer; his niece/daughter, Kelly Yough; his four grandchildren; Samuel II, William, Jack, and Josh, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters; Doris, Thelma, and Janet.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 1-3 PM at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001. A Blessing Service will immediately follow the visitation with Deacon Mitch Natali of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, officiating.

The family asks you kindly consider memorial donations in Larry's name to either Meals on Wheels, 218 E. Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001, or Butler Public Library, 218 N. McKean St., Butler, PA 16001.
