Father Scott Brubaker, a devoted Priest of the Diocese of Phoenix for 40 years, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025.
Born June 20, 1955, in El Paso, Texas, Scott later moved to Arizona, and graduated from Scottsdale High School in 1973. Answering a deep call to ministry, he studied for the ordained priesthood at the Catholic University of America, and went on to earn a Master of Arts in Pastoral Liturgy at the University of Santa Clara.
Throughout his four decades of service, Fr. Scott dedicated his life to worship, teaching, and the formation of faith communities. He served as the Vicar of Worship for the Diocese of Phoenix for 13 years, and was widely respected for his expertise in liturgy. His ministry extended far beyond the Diocese, as he taught classes and conducted workshops across the country, especially throughout the Southwest. He also served as President of the Southwest Liturgical Conference for 6 years, helping shape liturgical life and leadership across the region.
From 2002 until his retirement in 2023, Fr. Scott faithfully served as Pastor of Saint Bridget Catholic Church in Mesa where he guided, comforted, and inspired countless parishioners.
Father Scott is survived by his sister, Erika Maring, brother-in-law, Jim Maring, nephew, Christopher Maring, and his niece Alexandra Maring who will forever cherish his presence, wisdom, and gentle spirit.
