W. C. "Doug" Smith, 85 of Burnside, passed from this life on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center in Somerset after a brief illness.
He was born on June 18,1940 in Redbird, Whitley County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Clyde and Georgia Wilson Smith. In his later years, Doug furthered his career and obtained his associate's degree. He was employed as a Plant Manager in the Automotive Manufacturing Business for several years until his retirement. Doug was a hardworking person who always enjoyed making others laugh. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking. His kindness and generosity helped him to gain the friendship of many. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter; Deidre Riley, three sisters; Eva Smith Finn, Ola Tardiff and Opal Franklin.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, one son; Cooper (Katelyn) Smith of Metro Detroit, Michigan, three daughters; Sybil Smith of Lancaster, Kentucky, Scarlett (Chuck) Towles of Nicholasville, Kentucky and Louchrisa Schwan of New Baltimore, Michigan, One Brother; Ronnie Smith of Arkansas, a sister; Wanda Lainhart of Indiana, seven grandchildren; Stephen Smith, Christian Goolsby, Devon Griffin, Erika Morris, Kevin Kessler and Violet, Henry and Harrison Smith, one great-grandchild; Melodie Griffin and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place, and his family will have a Memorial Service in the Spring of 2026.
In lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made in memory of W. C. "Doug" Smith to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Kentucky 42503. You may also offer condolences and sign the Online Tribute Book at www.somersetundertaking.com
