Wade Douglas Bowser, Sr., 82 of Core, WV, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s/Frontotemporal Dementia on Wednesday, February 4th, surrounded by his loving family and special nephew Larry, who was like a son.
Wade was born on May 7, 1943 to the late William and Wilda Bowser and grew up in Pursglove, WV as part of a coal mining family.Wade married Betty Eddy on May 6, 1962, and celebrated 42 years of marriage until her death in 2004.
He was fascinated by history and the stories told by older generations. He was also an avid bottle collector in his younger years and would spend hours researching and locating old home sites. Wade enjoyed helping others and was always there for his family, friends, and neighbors.
He enjoyed his long career at the WVU Physical Plant, which he thought of as a second home, helping WVU keep the facilities up and running as the Lead Millwright.
Wade is survived by his children, Wade, Jr. (Sheila), Barbara (Jim), Lisa (Matt), and Anna; his grandchildren, Samantha, Shanna, Taylar, Jamie, Caitlyn, Corey, Noah, Mia, and four great-grandchildren. Wade is survived by his brother Delmas (Annabel), sister Martha (Tom), sister Peggy, many nieces and nephews and extended family. He is also survived by his special girlfriend of many years, Jo Ellen Howell.
Preceding Wade in death are his wife Betty, brother Larry and sister-in-law Nancy, sister Delores and brother-in-law Earl, and brother-in-law Roger.
Friends and family will gather at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 South High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501, on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, from 10 AM until the time of services at 1 PM with Douglas Stull officiating. He will rest with his beloved Betty at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
