On Saturday December 31, 2022, Wadis “Darvin” Spell passed away in his home. He was 78 years old.

Darvin was born on September 16, 1944, to the late Kazel and Nora Spell of Baxley. He was the youngest of 4 brothers. Mr.’s Willis, Bill, Dorris and Eugene Spell. He had numerous half siblings, nieces, nephews and extended family members. Darvin was married to Mrs. Wilma Louise Gardner Spell for 36 years and they share 1 child together Mr. Brandon Kad Spell (spouse Jennifer Gallion Spell) Darvin had 1 daughter, the late Mrs. Anita Spell Spicher (spouse David Spicher). With Mrs. Wilma he had 4 stepchildren, Randy White (spouse Bambi Gray White) of Baxley, Tammy Smith Carter (spouse Dewayne Carter) of Baxley, Cynthia Kae White Henderson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Danny Smith (spouse Shari Branch Smith) of Baxley. Together Darvin and Wilma have 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Darvin served in the Georgia National Guard with the 118th Field Artillery division from 1962-1968. He then worked for Georgia Department of Agriculture from which he retired. Lastly, he became a knowledgeable and beneficial beekeeper. His passion was for the outdoors. Fishing, hunting and gardening was his true passion, and he did all 3 very well.

He is going to be missed greatly and forever loved by those that had the blessing of knowing him. Rest well in the presence of our Lord Jesus “Boss” “Daddy” “Grandpa” “Big D” and “Friend.” We Love You!! 

 

The funeral service will be Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. from Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Steve Meguiar and Reverend Wayne Williamson officiating.

 

Interment will follow in Friendship Church Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

 

Active Pallbearers are Michael Spell, George Spell, Dustin Spell, Clayton Smith, Jared Henderson, and Auston White.
