Iowa ~ Wallace Joseph Charles, Sr., born in Iowa on September 4, 1927, son of the late Vance and Ernestine (LeBlanc) Charles, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, in the comfort of his home, at age 97.
Wallace was member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. He worked for various construction companies throughout his life. Wallace enjoyed playing pool, working on home improvements, and loved family gatherings.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Vance Joseph Charles; granddaughters, Krystal Charles, and Brandy Charles; 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Survivors are his loving and devoted wife of 76 years, Dorothy Charles; sons, Wallace Charles, Jr, and wife, Mary, Reginald Charles, and wife, Monica; daughters, Shirley Charles, and husband, Terry Davis, Sherell Kennison, and husband, Raynard, Sr., Lillian Hardy, and husband, Richard, Sr.; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church in Iowa. Rev. Raju Mathew, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Saturday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa at 9 a.m. A Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m.
