Mr. Rhodes was the son of the late Lester Franklin Rhodes and Esther Padgett Rhodes. He was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Jacksonville. A longtime member of Blue Creek Baptist Church, he loved being active and loved being fondly known as the "Candy Man" by everyone; but his greatest love was his family.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Rhodes of the home; Stepmom, Shirley Rhodes, son, Dusty Lee Rhodes and his wife, Katherine of Jacksonville; one daughter Crystal C. Sims of Jacksonville; brother, Eric Rhodes and his wife, Glenna of Jacksonville; sister, Bobbie Cave and her husband, Jack of Virginia; sister, Jackie Nickle and her husband, Ron of Jacksonville; sister/best friend, Kitty Hartley of Jacksonville; Uncle Preston Padgett of Jacksonville; and twelve grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blue Creek Baptist Church, 1251 Burgaw Hwy, Jacksonville, NC 28540.
We would like to thank Gentiva Hospice of Swansboro for their kindness and care during this devastating time of our lives.
We would like to also thank Danielle Danois Raynor for her love, compassion and care in taking care of her Uncle Butch.
