Walter Charles Alexander

Walter Charles Alexander, 60, of North Washington Street, North Attleboro, died unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, February 2, 2008.

Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on June 14, 1947, he was a son of the late Charles Edgar and June Pauline (Carpino) Alexander and was the stepson of Louise G. (Gaugan) Alexander of Lenox, Massachusetts.

Raised in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, Mr. Alexander was a 1965 graduate of the former Williams High School in neighboring Stockbridge, Massachusetts. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio in 1969. He later enrolled in numerous specialty courses at both Boston College and Boston University.

Following his matriculation from college, Mr. Alexander was employed at the Perkins School for the Blind, Watertown, as an industrial arts teacher and worked in that capacity until 1994.

He moved to North Attleboro in 1996 from Needham where he was a resident from 1977 – 1996. He previously resided in Watertown.

He was a longtime member of the United Church of Christ.

Among his favorite pastimes was astronomy, art, photography and listening to music, in particular, folk music.

In addition to his stepmother, he leaves a brother: Bruce B. Alexander and his wife, Eileen (Condon) Alexander, of North Attleboro; two nieces: June Alexander and Emily Alexander both of North Attleboro; a nephew: Joseph Alexander of North Attleboro and numerous extended family members and friends.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Saturday, February 9, 2008 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral following visitation on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 1:00 PM in the “Memorial Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro with the Rev. Carole L. Baker, Pastor of Central Congregational Church, Attleboro Falls, officiating.

Private burial will be in the family lot in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

Following the funeral service an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshment at a location to be announced.
