Age 94, of Scott Township, passed away February 27, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 50 years to the late Anne Marie Bloom; loving father of Berne Bloom; devoted stepfather of Rae Ann Maxwell; proud Grandfather of Kali Madison Bloom & her husband Anthony Sovchen; son of the late Bernard and Lillian. He is also survived by many cherished friends and neighbors.
Walter proudly served as a Lance Corporal in the U.S Marine Corp. He went on to be a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education.
He first started his career at Westinghouse as an electrician. Walter then went on to Carnegie Mellon University, formerly Carnegie Tech, in the Physics Department doing experimental testing, where he met Anne Marie. He then went on to become a teacher at Brashear in Industrial Controls and Residential Wiring for over 28 years.
Anne Marie and Walter enjoyed breeding, raising and showing their award-winning bulldogs all over the United States. Walter was an accredited judge for the American Kennel Association, traveling the entire world. They named their kennel Hagar's Bulldogs, after their first bulldog Hagar the Horrible. In their free time they would spend time in Cape Hatteras, NC over the last 25 years.
Walter was also Past Master for Fraternity Masonic Lodge # 705 in 1971. He also enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fishermen and hunter. Walter will be remembered by his great sense of humor, love of knowledge and ability to share with others, and most of all love of family and friends.
