Walter Clary Obituary
Clark is survived by his wife, Shirley; two children, Susan (Jeff) Broughton, and Greg (Cathy) Clary both of Petersburg; four grandchildren, Eric (Stephanie) Broughton, Kari Broughton, Hayden Clary, Mikaela Clary; and two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Madison Broughton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Robert Clary.
Clark graduated from Harris High and was a member of the St. Paul's Free Evangelical Church in Petersburg. He had served in the United States Navy and later worked through the ranks at the Petersburg Post Office before retiring. Clark was a Shriner and a Mason, member of the Shambolee Men's Association and the American Legion Post 129, as well as an avid Illinois basketball fan.
A visitation will be held for Clark on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg, IL from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will also be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 10:00 am. Pastor Mike Smoron will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Petersburg. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Free Evangelical Church, American Cancer Society, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
