Walter Max Hempel, 67, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Walter relocated to Pennsylvania in 1989, where he built a life rooted in love and devotion to those closest to him. A proud and devoted family man, Walter cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 27 years, Janice; his parents, Max and June; his sisters, Linda and Judy; and his son, Shane.

Walter is survived by his children: sons Christopher, Steven, and Patrick; daughters Kimberly and Janice; son-in-law Alfred; daughter-in-law Nicole; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Gail and her husband, Charley Severino.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family, with a celebration of Walter's life to take place at a later date.

Walter will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his one-of-a-kind personality, his unwavering love for his family, and the enduring legacy of warmth and strength he leaves behind.
