Walter C Irvin, 88, formerly of Veedersburg IN, passed away 10:05 AM Saturday November 30, 2024 at Fountain Springs in Covington, IN.

Walter was born November 18, 1936 in Tompkinsville, KY the son of Audie C and Agnes (Emberton) Irvin. He married Ruth Marie Foley October 18, 1975 in Veedersburg; she preceded him in death May 11, 2024.

He is also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Pauline High, Lila Mae Fishburn; two brothers, Robert Morrie Irvin, and Ronald William Irvin.

He served his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1957. Prior to his enlistment with the Army he had been employed as a teen-ager at The Chicago Bakery. Throughout his life he had worked in the home construction business; both self-employed and employed at Community Action for several years. He had installed vinyl siding on many homes throughout the area.

Surviving family include three sister in laws, Roseanna Maust, Goshen IN; Marvel May Moore, Bedford IN; Linda Lou (Ted) Warfield, Veedersburg; three brother in laws, Elvin Samuel Foley Jr., Veedersburg; John Wesley (Lois) Foley, Coatsville, PA; Thomas Wayne (Faye) Foley, Noblesville, IN; and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday December 6, 2024 at Dickerson Funeral Home with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon and continue until the time of service. Burial will be at the VA National Cemetery in Danville, IL. Online condolences at www.dickersonfuneralhome.com
