Mr. Walter Mack Jones, at the age of 84 years departed this life on August 19, 2024. He was born May 27, 1940 in Meridianville, Alabama to Mack and Bobbie (Kelly) Jones.
Walt Jones was a graduate of Townsend High School in Winchester, Tennessee. Upon graduation, Walt relocated to Saginaw, Michigan from 1958-1960. He enlisted in the Navy and served from 1960-1964. Upon being discharged, Walt returned to Saginaw, Michigan where he built a life as a pillar of the community.
Walt is survived by the love of his life and wife, Charlene (Austin) Jones whom he married on February 12, 1966. They shared a life of love for over 58 years. Through that union they were blessed with two sons, Dwight and Johnny Jones.
Walt leaves to cherish memories of four children, Gregory Clark, Cassandra (Festus) Adagboyin, Dwight Jones, and Johnny Jones. Walt is survived by grandchildren, Dwight W. Jones II, Jordan Napolitano, Candace, Damon, Dominic, Jordan and Nelson Adagbonyin and great grandchildren, Tyler, Dominic Jr., Jordan, Jr. Londyn, and Jordan Kole Jr.
Walt was a man of strength, wisdom, character, and compassion. Walt will be remembered as a pillar of the Saginaw community for 60 years, as an entrepreneur and lounge/restaurant owner. He was always there to greet you with a big gregarious smile that included laughter, counsel, and friendship. In addition, Walt worked in field operations for Consumers Energy, and he also served as the consummate salesman for McDonald Cadillac for over 20 years before retiring. He was the #1 Salesman for 18 years in his division and top Salesman in his region for 5 years.
Walt will be remembered as a Man that lived life on his own terms with no regrets. Walt was a great "Husband" to his Wife, Charlene Jones of 58 years. Walt was her partner, protector, provider, and most of all her friend. He was Father to his children, whom he loved with all his heart and left the teachings and lessons of hard work, strong ethics and values that will be continued to be carried on in life. Walt was a grandfather and great-grandfather to all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, and the constant center of his conversations. Walt will be remembered as the brother to his siblings for which they could always count on to be there. Known to his many nieces and nephews as "Cool Uncle Walt".
Walt is survived by one brother, Sammie (Truthia) Jones; one sister, Barbara (Gordon) Nichols; brothers-in-law, Charlie Louis (Claudette) Austin and Nathaniel (Patricia) Austin; two sisters-in-law, Martha Bond and Louise Jones; one daughter-in-law, Margaret Jones. Walt will always be in our hearts, because in there he will always live. Walt's legacy is etched in the pages of history and the lives that he has touched. Walt's kindness and strength is the inspiration to all of us as to how to walk through life.
