Walter G. Koosmann, age 79, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, in Minneapolis, MN. Born in Appleton, MN, Walter was the beloved son of Walter John Koosmann and Ida E. Wulff Koosmann. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1963 and honorably served in the United States Army until his discharge in 1970. Walter dedicated 38 years of his career to Honeywell as a Punch Press Operator before retirement. He found great joy in gardening, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and cheering on the Minnesota Twins. Above all, Walter cherished time spent with family and friends, his warm smile reflecting the love he shared with those around him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis Koosmann; his brother, Palmer Koosmann; and his sister, Elaine. Walter is survived by his son, Todd Koosmann and his longtime partner, Kristine, of Excelsior, MN; his brother, Henry Koosmann of Oro Valley, AZ; as well as grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also lovingly remembered by his former stepchildren, Kathy (Jim) Schmansky and Ronald Dudo from his previous marriage to his late wife, Jean. Though not related by blood, Walter remained close to them throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire team at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota for their compassionate care, and to The Waters of Excelsior for their unwavering support and advocacy for Walter. A special thank you also goes to Mount Olivet Lutheran Church for their kindness, guidance, and support in honoring Walter's life and faith. A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Avenue S., Minneapolis, MN 55419, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. A burial with graveside honors will take place on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55450. Walter's life was one of kindness, dedication, and love - a legacy that will endure in the hearts of those he touched. www.Washburn-McReavy.com
