Walter LaVerne Losenegger Jr., age 86, of Markesan, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at home with family at his side.
Wally was born on November 27, 1938, the son of Walter and Hilda (Wirth) Losenegger. On April 1, 1983, he was united in marriage to Cathy Sluder in Waunakee, Wisconsin. Wally spent 29 years at Johannsen Garden Center, where he made friends and connections that lasted a lifetime. He was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, Wisconsin.
Wally’s joys were many; farming, working at the garden center, playing softball, coaching Little League, fishing, boating, riding motorcycle, playing euchre and other games and spending time with friends, even those he hadn’t met yet. His greatest joy was time spent with Cathy, his kids and grandchildren. The knowledge and love he shared lives on in all those he loved.
Wally is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Losenegger of Markesan; children, Dale (Deb) Losenegger of Omro, Barney (Cheryl) Losenegger of Juda, Marie (Tim) Miller of Mt. Horeb, and Tammy (John) Mulcahy of Bagley; grandchildren, Eric Losenegger, Sara (Dan) Fedderly, Ryan Bechtolt, Kristin (Christian) Ruf, Josh (Michelle) Hirsch, Brandon (Kayla) Hirsch, Freeman (Laura) Kauffman, Jennifer (David) Teuscher and Kevin (Tori) Mulcahy; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Tim (Emily) of Apple Valley, CA; and special niece, Jennifer Killary of Beaver Dam. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Matthew Losenegger; brothers, Donald (Winnie) and Dean (Karla) Losenegger; mother-in-law, Virginia Sluder.
Per Wally’s wishes, no services will be held.
