He was born on September 7, 1930 in Hillman, Arkansas to Herman and Minnie (Fowler) Neldon. After his mother passed at an early age, he was raised by his step-mother, Gladys (Cricket) Henderson He married Octa (Ritchie) Neldon on June 7, 1954. Walter is survived by daughters, Betty Scholl (Mike), Juanita Purdon (Richard), Kim Blair (Tony) and son, Steve Neldon (Tiffany); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in passing by his parents; wife, Octa; son, Walter William Neldon; brothers, Lester Neldon, Ben Neldon, Doc Neldon and Herman Loyce Neldon; sister, Lorece Arthur and half-sister, Ester Joyce Neldon.
He worked in various jobs, including as an Insurance Agent with National Life for many years.
Walter enjoyed gardening and reading his Bible.
A Celebration of Walter's life will be on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with Visitation on Wednesday, October 8th from 11:00 a.m. to time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
