Walter Gregory Rickard, surrounded by his loving family, passed away on Monday, March 3rd, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 62 years old.Gregg was born and raised in Memphis, TN and attended Denver Elementary School, Woodlawn Terrace Baptist Academy, and Frayser Baptist School. On the day he died, he still had many lifelong friends from all three schools, which is part of his legacy. He had the uncanny ability to make friends no matter where he was, he was often the life and instigator of the party, and he was fiercely loyal. For his friends and family, he would give the literal shirt off his back and often did. While Gregg had many skills and interests, he built his career with MLGW, starting as a lineman at the age of 22 and retiring as a Contract Inspector after 25 years. His hobbies included woodworking, construction, drawing and painting, landscaping, designing, and cooking. In fact, his BBQ team placed twice at the Memphis in May BBQ Festival. He was also an avid outdoorsman, even starting his own hunting club and building the hunting cabin. He loved spending the cold months deer hunting with his friends and family, then spending his summers with them on the lake, boating, floating, cooking, and making lasting memories.By his side for many of his adventures was the love of his life, his wife of 33 years Robin Rickard. They built a home together that included their dogs and was the meeting place for their large extended family. He was especially close to his nephews, who were like sons to him, and he loved them all dearly. He also had many lifelong friends, many of whom he loved like brothers, and they loved him back.Gregg was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Maxine Rickard, one sister, Lisa Rickard, one brother-in-law Steve Bramlett and his best friend Dale Ware. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Robin Rickard, one brother, Jeff Rickard, one sister Lori Webb (Steve), mother-in-law Pat Anderson, sister-in-law Penne Bramlett (Robert Mears), aunt, Cheri Jones (Billy), four nephews John Webb, Austin Webb, Kurtis Bramlett, Konner Bramlett, along with "honor nephews" Chris Ware, Justin Ware and Jacob Hopkins; two nieces, Anna OHara (Shane) and Robin Lee Rickard, five great-nephews, 2 great-nieces, and a host of other family and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to all the family members and friends during this difficult journey, with special mention of his nephew John Webb. Gregg will be sorely missed.
