In Loving Memory of Walter “Wally” Valdez April 7,1946- September 19,2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Walter George Valdez, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who left us peacefully on September 19, 2025 at the age of 79.

Wally was a man of quiet strength, deep love, and generous spirit. He was a devoted husband to Macky, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love.

As a father, Wally led by example—teaching his daughters the value of hard work, honesty, and compassion. He was always there with a steady hand, wise advice, or a warm hug. As a grandfather, his eyes lit up with every visit, and his grandchildren will forever cherish the stories he told, the projects they built together, and the sound of his laughter during one of their card games.

A man of many talents, Wally had a passion for carpentry and hot rods he could often be found in his workshop, fixing just about anything and working on “the ‘55”. He shared his love of fishing with his family, typically baiting and casting for everyone. He loved going out to the lake with his fishing partner of many years, Dennis Roybal. Music was another of his great loves, and there was rarely a day when a tune wasn’t playing in the background. He had played the drums but could pick up any instrument and play. He enjoyed singing and sharing that with his daughters on karaoke nights.

More than anything, Wally cherished his family. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by those he loved, sharing meals, stories, and the simple moments that truly matter.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Macky Valdez; his sister Becky (Toby) Jaramillo, Marlene Sandoval, his daughters Sherri (Leroy) Lucero, Christina (Tony) Knowlton; his grandchildren Kenny Grimes, Daniel Walter, Reanna Lucero, Isaiah Lucero, Max Valdez, Mila Knowlton, great grandchildren Vincent, KJ, and Layla. God Daughter Jerrie Montoya. Numerous nieces and nephews and many extended family and dear friends.

We will miss his steady presence, his kind heart, his strength and the way he made the world feel just a little bit better by being in it.
