Walter “Walt” Coney Helveston, age 54 of Long Beach, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Omega Helveston; his mother, Linda Kay Helveston and his aunt, Marsha Helveston.
Walt is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Candy Buley Helveston and his son, Dillan Helveston.
Born in Gulfport, Walt was raised in Long Beach, where he graduated from Long Beach High School. He went on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, earning an associate’s degree in registered nursing.
Following his education, Walt built a career in the casino industry, working as a table games dealer along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, with a brief time spent in Tunica after Hurricane Katrina. Most recently, he was employed at Island View Casino in Gulfport.
Walt had a passion for technology and hobbies that kept him engaged and curious, including working with computers, racing RC cars, and flying drones. He and Candy especially cherished their time together traveling.
