Wanda Beverly Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rhodes Funeral Home - Washington Avenue on Jul. 3, 2024.
Wanda L. Beverly was born on November 30, 1949, to the late Charles Thomas Sr. and Lillie Addie Hillard. She was affectionately known as "Mother," a name given to her by her first grandchild Keyira. Wanda was raised and educated in the St. Tammany Parish and Orleans Parish School systems. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and, at the time of her passing, was a devoted member of Morning Star MBC under the leadership of Pastor Rev. Dr. TJ Brown. Wanda married Bill Beverly, and they were determined to raise their children in a two-parent household. She was a hands-on mother, ensuring all four boys were involved in the Cub Scouts and acting as their den mother. She also supported her daughter in whatever activities she wanted to participate in. Wanda loved working with children, she worked and retired from the Audubon Montessori School in New Orleans. Additionally, she was known for her excellent cooking, which brought her joy. Both family and friends called her seeking her advice on preparing various meals. In her free time, she enjoyed talking on the phone with her sisters, spending time with them at festivals, and shopping, especially at thrift stores. On Sunday, June 23, 2024, God said to Wanda, "Suffer no more, come unto me, and I will give you eternal rest." She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Benton and Charles Thomas Sr., one son Glenn Wendell Thomas Sr., grandparents Beulah and James Gross, Godmother Orlean Richardson, two brothers Romalis Chirlow Sr. and Charles Thomas Jr., one sister Dollanne Jones, two grandchildren Tyler Coleman and Lionel Noel, one niece Lydia Bynum, three nephews Romalis Chirlow Jr., Wayne Chirlow and Willie Jeff. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her devoted husband Bill Beverly Sr., four children Toney (Javon) Thomas, Angela (Pastor Brian) Richardson, Bill Jr. (Bridgett), and Brandon (Shantrell) Beverly. Godchild Brian Tucker. Grandchildren Keyira Gable, Alicia (Tamyra Broome), Brittany (Steve) Granier, Alana (Blake) Williams, Brianna Richardson, Glenn Jr., Jabiri, Kaylin, and Glenice Thomas, Byren Coleman, Tylen Coleman, Jamal Phillips, Jeffrey Houston, Brandon Beverly Jr., Brea Beverly, Toney Thomas Jr., Kyra, Kensley and Kayla Johnson and Dylan Granier.
