Wanda Burleson, cherished mother and grandmother, was born on September 20, 1944, in Delaware. She peacefully departed this life on August 26, 2025, in Delmar, Maryland, at the age of 80. Wanda was a proud American, well-known for her dedication to her family and her work.
Wanda's greatest joys were found in her close-knit family, particularly in the love she had for her son, Michael Burleson (Laura), and her beloved grandchildren, Grant (Rachel) and Reed. She also formed a special bond with her son's dog, Emmitt. A proud and independent woman, Wanda was known for her persistence and strong commitment to traditions, which she instilled in her family. She will be missed by her extended family and friends who loved her dearly.
In addition to her parents, James and Amanda Warrington, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband William Burleson, her sister Donna Sturgis, and her brother Jehu Warrington.
Wanda worked as an administrative assistant for 20 years for Perdue Farms, then for Case Foods for over 30 years before retiring. Outside of work, Wanda had a deep love for her home, where she enjoyed spending her time working in her yard, reading, and being at the farm by the water in Fenwick. Her nurturing spirit and dedication to her family will be remembered by all who knew her.
A funeral ceremony will be held on August 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Both services will take place at 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804, where friends and family are invited to celebrate Wanda's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Wanda's memory to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
Wanda W. Burleson leaves behind a legacy of love, independence, and close family ties. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
