Wanda Josette (Ellis) Higgins, 89 died on March 30th, 2026.

Josette, as she was known by most, had been a member of the former St. James East United Methodist Church, where she was employed as secretary, retiring after almost 26 years. She was presently a Charter Member of McCutchanville Community U.M. Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women and was co-teacher at the Unity Sunday school class for several years. She had also been a member of the American Business Women's Association, Moon Glow Chapter.

Josette is survived by a daughter, Lisa M. McManus of Tampa, Florida, and a son, Jeffrey A. Higgins of Evansville. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Ashley N. McManus Michael (Josh), Tampa, and twins Abby Everett (Martin) and Grace E. Higgins, Evansville; two great grandchildren, William and James Michael; a sister, Mary Lou Ellis, and a brother Philip E. Ellis and his wife, Jo, all of Evansville. Two foster brothers, Robert L. (Bob) Brown and his wife, Ellan of Newburgh and his cousin, Philip W. Brown of Evansville also survive. She is also survived by several brothers- and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert "Bob" Higgins, and her parents Otto and Alice Ellis. Her daughter-in-law Amy Higgins and Son-in-law Paul McManus.

Her hobbies included crocheting, counted cross stitch, reading, playing Solitaire on the computer and traveling.
