Wanda Lee Meacheam of Ozark, MO died peacefully early Thursday morning surrounded by her closest loved ones.
Wanda was born to Orville and Jimmie Peebles (Fugitt) of Clever, MO on October 15, 1934.
She married her loving husband Lloyd F. Meacheam on January 24, 1954. Together, they had two children: Kim Marler and Danny Meacheam with wife Mary.
Wanda had four grandchildren who she loved dearly and would do anything for: Megan Scott and husband Chris, Colette Patton and husband Brandon, Alexis Meacheam and Hunter Meacheam.
She also had four great grandchildren: Archer and Finley Scott (of Megan and Chris) and Harper and Holly Patton (of Colette and Brandon).
Wanda also enjoyed her many nieces and nephews.
Wanda is survived by her husband Lloyd, sister Barbara Kirkes, sister-in-law Betty Sue Meacheam, brother-in-law Jerry Max Stigall and sister-in-law Janice Peebles.
She was preceded in death by parents Orville and Jimmie Peebles, brother Joe Wayne Peebles, brother and sister-in-law Glen Dale and Janice Peebles, brother Gary Peebles, sister Kay Stigall, brother-in-law Gene Kirkes, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edwin and Marcella Meacheam, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ruth and Wilburn Moore, brother-in-law Billy Joe Meacheam.
Wanda grew up in Clever Missouri where she met Lloyd, the love of her life. They started dating in their sophomore year of high school and were married four years later for a total of 72 years, with over 68 years of marriage. She joined her husband in an adventure of a lifetime. Once married, they moved to San Francisco, California where they stayed for two years before returning to Springfield, MO where she made her home and raised her two children. They later moved to Republic, MO where she enjoyed living on their farm. She relished in the laughter of her children and grandchildren on hayrides. Wanda and Lloyd provided for their family with joy and enthusiasm. She had immense pride in bringing her family together for gourmet dinners and walks to the mailbox. She truly lived her life to the fullest.
Wanda had a passion for travel and took great pleasure in working for Sunnyland Travel, and other travel agencies, as a tour guide. Wanda always knew the best places to dine and was sharp as a tack while guiding people through historical sites or beautiful scenery.
Wanda was very active in her community. She was involved with her church where she was a long-time member at Grace United Methodist, Hood United Methodist and Schweitzer United Methodist.
She genuinely loved people. Throughout the years she made numerous friends from many places including art group, bridge club, tennis, stock club and supper club.
As we remember Wanda the family asked that in lieu of flowers please contribute to the Local Alzheimer s Association or your favorite charity.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 10:00 11:00 AM at Hood United Methodist Church with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM. Burial will be Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
