WANDA MORRIS
Henderson, TN: Wanda Jean Paulk Morris age 84, passed away December 28, 2024, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born March 27, 1940, in Savannah, TN, the daughter of the late Clyde Walker and Zella Mae Austin Paulk.
She began attending public school at the age of four in a one teacher schoolhouse where the children walked to school. She graduated from Hardin County High School at the age of sixteen. She grew up in a non-denominational church family at Nixon where she accepted Christ and was baptized in the TN River at Pickwick at the age of twelve.
She was united in marriage to Teddy Eugene Morris on March 11, 1960. They made their home in Henderson. They were blessed with two children, Carol and Jason.
She was employed by Chester Mfg. Company for several years and later by the Chester County Board of Education for many years, first as a teacher’s assistant and later as a substitute teacher.
She loved working in the yard, caring for her flowers and gardening. She was known among her family and friends for her cooking skills, and she enjoyed reading, sewing and crossword puzzles.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Carol Ramsay, daughter in-law, Deana Morris, grandchildren, Jesica Emerson (Brad), Jenifer Lowrance (Stephen), Rhett Ramsay (Lauren), Austin Ramsay, Carlee Morris, and Caelyn Morris, and four great grandchildren, Caleb Emerson, Noah Emerson, Cooper Lowrance and Colton Lowrance, also surviving are two siblings, Max Paulk and Nancy Doran.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, her son, Jason, her parents and two brothers, Dwight Walker Paulk and Jerry Ralph Paulk.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or another charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 3rd at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Austin Ramsay, Rhett Ramsay, Caelyn Morris and graveside Carlee Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday.
