Wanda Michelle Reyna

Wanda Michelle Reyna, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend to many in St. Augustine, passed away on November 11, 2025, in Saint Augustine, Florida. She was 71 years old.
Born on January 1, 1954, Michelle was the first daughter of Lawrence and Lavonda Rathel and the first granddaughter to Brownie and Agnes Rathel and Gus and Ruby Pacetti. Her life was a vibrant tapestry of love, generosity, and community spirit.
Michelle's days were filled with purpose and joy. Whether preparing her famous Minorcan peleau for friends, leading historical presentations at local schools, or baking a birthday cake for someone who had never had one, she poured her heart into every act. Her home was always open, filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of home-cooked meals.
A gifted artist, Michelle was known for her hand-sketched Christmas cards-small treasures that reflected her creativity and thoughtfulness. She embraced her Spanish Minorcan heritage and served as a passionate ambassador for St. Augustine. As a local historian and storyteller, she guided countless groups through the city's ancient streets with enthusiasm and grace. Her voice once sang for Spanish royalty; now, as her family lovingly says, she sings for the angels.
Michelle is survived by her sister Ramelle Wright; brother Larry Rathel; sons Scott Gastineau and Steve Giovanni; grandchildren Antonio, Maria, Ana, Cruz, and Estel Giovanni. She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Lavonda Rathel.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on December 3 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 5950 FL-16, St. Augustine, FL 32092.
