She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jeffrey Thompson; her parents, Druscilla Pittman and John Simms; her sisters, Nancy Davis, Willie Mae Simms, and Lizzie Mae Simms; and her brothers, W.D. Simms, John Jr. Simms, James Willie Simms, and Sammy Lee Simms.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories of family ; her uncle, Labon Pittman (Joanne) of Orrum, NC, her aunts, Josephine Pittman of Lumberton, NC, Mildred Pittman of Marietta NC, and Barbara Pittman of Boston Massachusetts; her sisters, Jeanette Reaves (John) of Lake View, SC, Ceatrice Brunson (James) of Lumberton, NC, Emma Jean Simms of Fairmont, NC, and Estelle Simms of Hempstead, NY; her brothers, Louis Davis of Fairmont, NC, Lennox Davis (Frances) of Marietta, NC, Dallas Melvin of Charlotte, NC, James Melvin (Cathy) of Fairmont, NC, Benjamin Melvin (Valerie) of Lumberton, NC, Timothy Melvin (Sonya) of Charlotte, NC, and Kenneth Thompson (Roberta) of Lumberton, NC.

Wanda grew up as a devoted daughter, caring deeply for her mother and family. Throughout her early years, she worked in several local factories, but when her mother's health began to decline, Wanda selflessly dedicated her time and energy to caregiving. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she lovingly cared for her nieces and nephews, earning their admiration and affection.

She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends who will remember her kind heart, unwavering loyalty, and gentle spirit. A devoted longtime friend and caregiver, Fantriss "Poochie" Nealy, whom she loved dearly; Wanda will be especially remembered by her childhood best friend, Sheila McMillian, for a lifetime of shared laughter, love, and friendship.
