Wanda J. Wilson, a cherished resident of Earlington, Kentucky, gracefully departed this life on June 12, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on November 24, 1936, to the late Dave Wilson and Pearly Bryant Wilson, Wanda's journey through life was marked by compassion, dedication, and unwavering faith.

A distinguished graduate of J.W. Million High School in 1952, she devoted her professional life to the noble field of nursing. For an impressive 52 years, Wanda served with distinction at The Regional Medical Center, which later became known as Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville, embodying the essence of care and commitment to her patients.

Wanda's contributions extended far beyond her career; she was a beloved figure in her community, esteemed as one of Earlington's finest ambassadors. Her tenure as a City Council member for over three decades exemplified her deep commitment to the city and its people. With her warm, outgoing spirit, she forged countless friendships that transcended generations, never encountering a stranger.

Her leadership blossomed in various capacities, including her roles as past president of the local NAACP, the Kentucky League of Cities, and the Hopkins County Democratic Executive Committee. Additionally, she graciously served on the Senior Citizens Committee Board and was a valued member of AARP and the J.W. Million Reunion Committee.

Wanda also possessed a profound love for travel and was known for her remarkable culinary skills. Her faith in Christ was a cornerstone of her life, nurtured from a young age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she took on numerous roles, including church clerk, choir member, culinary arts committee member, and BTU teacher, serving her congregation with joy and dedication.

She is preceded in death by her beloved daughters, Lisa Baker and Lori Ann Wilson, who will surely be waiting to greet her in peace.

Wanda's legacy is carried on by her loving children: Mark (Tarsha) Wilson, Mildred Wilson of Earlington, Alvis (Nancy) Wilson, Veritta Baker of Madisonville, KY, and David Wilson of Nashville, TN. She is lovingly remembered by 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, her sister Nila Wilson of Detroit, MI, and her three Godchildren: Barbara Whitsell and Fred and Gloria Walker; cherished friends:  Yvonne White and Nadine McNeal, along with a host of cousins and friends.

As we honor the life of Wanda J. Wilson, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, service, and immeasurable joy. Her spirit will forever be etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
