Wanita Arendt Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Wanita Ardell Arendt passed away on July 31, 2025, at the age of 90 years and 28 days. Wanita was born July 3, 1935, the first born to Benjamin and Helen (Gronski) Brockman, in the Town of Seneca, Wood County, Wisconsin.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday August 8, 2025, at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Altdorf. Visitation will take place from 8:00am until the time of service. A burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery will immediately follow the service.
Wanita graduated from Mary Heart High School in Pittsville in 1953. She then worked in the office of Consolidated Papers until she became a wife and mother. Wanita and Peter J. Arendt Jr. were introduced when they stood up in the wedding of good friends, Don and Lucy Hustedt. Wanita and Peter were married on July 20, 1957, at St. Joseph's Church in Altdorf. They spent 62 years together, 52 years on their dairy farm in Altdorf, before Peter's passing on May 15, 2020.
As a dairy farmer and mother to seven, she knew what hard work was. There were always chores to do, cows to milk, garden and canning to tend to, food to prepare and baking. You were always fed and sent home with a plate of her famous chocolate chip cookies. In her later, less hectic years, she would often be found sitting on the swing, under the shade of the trees, watching the wildlife... animals and kids included.
Wanita is survived by her seven children; Tom (Debbie) Arendt of Norwalk, Ken (Luann) Arendt of Cataract, Nancy (Gary) Graf of Wisconsin Rapids, Dan Arendt of Buffalo City, Marcy (Dave) Batten of Vesper, Dennis (Jackie Kubisiak) Arendt of Tony, and Wendy (Lou) Clem of San Francisco, CA.
Wanita is also survived by 18 grandchildren; Trevor (Katie), Ian (Shelby) and Chelsey Arendt, Sara (Beau)Brennan, Ben, Calvin (Kelsey) and Tyler Arendt, Matt (Krissy) Graf, Nikki (CJ) Calteux, Maria (Ryan) Dashek, Garrett (Alyson) Arendt, Michaela (Shane) Ruesch, Eric, Ethan (Jamie) Schooley, Krista (Dave) Evans, Jake (Emily) Kubisiak, Addison and Olivia Clem. Wanita also has 28 great grandchildren, with two more on the way.
Wanita is survived by her brother David (Margie) Brockman of Dexterville, sisters Diane Larson of Wisconsin Rapids and Cindy (Bill) Gesicki of Pittsville, her sister-in-law Marge Moore of Wisconsin Rapids, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Peter, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in- law, Harley Moore, Paul and Lillian Arendt, and Louise Wilson.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Arborview Court, where she resided the past two years, and Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care.
