Warren Gamelin Jr, 66, passed away on January 6th, 2023 after an 8 year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife Debbie, daughter Katie Steinbach and son-in-law Brad Steinbach.
Warren was born on April 18th, 1956 to Marge (Schwerzler) and Warren Gamelin Sr. After graduating from Menominee High School, he married the love of his life Debbie (Kopish) on May 6th 1978. That was the beginning of a 44-year journey that included many laughs, tears and everything in between. Their adventures included trips to the Bahamas, raising a daughter, dancing the "Walk of Life" around the kitchen table, some Chuck Berry imitations at a wedding or two and welcoming 3 grandchildren into the world.
"Corndog" (as he was affectionately known to his friends), was a proud, lifelong resident of Menekaunee. Warren loved living by the bay and often took advantage of the fishing it provided.
To say Warren was a huge Rolling Stones fan would be an understatement. Warren didn't need the internet to tell you everything you needed to know about the Stones. He was fortunate to have seen his favorite band in concert numerous times. If you've been to Warren and Debs house recently, you would have been greeted by their lovable dog, Jagger.
Warren loved all sports, but the Packers topped his list. On Sundays during football season, you would find Warren using some choice words to offer his encouragement for his favorite team while enjoying a PBR or two. If you needed to know where the 3rd string tackle was picked up from or traded to, Warren was the one to ask.
His love for the Stones and Packers was exceeded only by his love for his family. His family is why he spent 40+ years working at Dunn Paper (formerly Menominee Paper), his family is why he fought cancer for 8 years and his family is why he didn't know how to stop fighting the last days of his life.
Warren's greatest pride and joy was his daughter, Katie (whom he lovingly called "Monk"). These were two peas in a pod. Katie inherited Warren's love for music, sports, belching and the ability to not take life too seriously.
And then came the grandchildren, Connor, Lucy and Noelle. Boppa Horn (Grandpa Warren) loved spending time with the grandkids. Whether it was taking trips to Florida (including multiple trips to Disney), swimming in the pool, talking sports with Connor, watching Lucy and Noelle dance, breakfast at Applejacks or attempting to teach them his famous Indian call.
Warren is survived by his wife Debbie (Kopish) Gamelin, daughter Katie and her husband Brad Steinbach, grandchildren Connor, Lucy and Noelle, Aunt Joanne Galineau, sisters and brothers-in-law Wayne (Barb) Kopish, Nancy Kopish, Sheryl (Ray) Lemire, Penny (Dave) Perkins and many other loved relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents Warren ("Toby") and Marge Gamelin, brother Tommy Gamelin, brother-in-law Wendell Kopish and parents-in-law Tom and Lucille Kopish.
Debbie would like to express her thanks to all the family members and true friends who have provided love and support these last few days, weeks and years. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Tahsildar, Jani Cook (APNP), Donna, the entire staff at Bellin Hospital in Oconto and all other healthcare professionals who supported Warren during his battle with cancer.
Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 11th at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home, 610 Marinette, WI 54143. Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with a short service at 1:00 pm.

What a handsome picture of Warrnie. From a little kid on. He was always one of my favorite cousins. I wish I could have visited him before he passed away. When he would have known who I was. He was a favorite of my Mom, Corey, and my dad. I am sure it is comforting to know how many people loved him. Thank God his suffering is over with.
