Wayne Andrepont, age 80, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was born on March 31, 1944, in Eunice, Louisiana. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the Calcutta House in Lafayette, Louisiana.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Wayne Andrepont will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell, LA. Father Mark Ledoux will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and burial will be held in the St. Bridget Church Cemetery in Lawtell, LA.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Jerome Collins. The funeral home will reopen on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Andrepont, Andrew Andrepont, Grant Andrepont, Alex Andrepont, Tony Cormier and Baylee Tardiff. Honorary pallbearers will be Abby Andrepont, Weston Andrepont and Bryce Burleigh.
For many years, Wayne dedicated himself to his career, working as a forklift operator for Standard Fittings in Opelousas and later working for Magnolia Liquor / Reliable Wholesale until his retirement. He was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to his responsibilities. Wayne was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served his country in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
Wayne was a man of simple pleasures. He found joy in cutting his grass and savoring his favorite cigar. As a devout Catholic, Wayne was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas.
Wayne leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, May Andrepont, of Prairie Ronde; his sons, David Wayne Andrepont and his wife, Jenny of Church Point; and Brian Joseph Andrepont and his wife, Candice of Prairie Ronde. He will be remembered fondly by his sisters, Elaine Cormier and her husband, Kelly; and Janice Courvelle and her husband, A.B. both of Opelousas. His family includes a stepbrother, Vernon Marks and his wife, Clara of Opelousas; as well as stepsisters, Beverly Kolder and her husband, Roy of Plaquemine; and Jane Richard of Carencro. Additionally, Wayne is survived by his stepsisters-in-law, Becky Marks and Jeanette Marks. He was proud of his role as a grandfather to Ryan Andrepont, Andrew Andrepont, Grant Andrepont and his wife, Jamie, Alex Andrepont, and Abby Andrepont. He also cherished his status as a great-grandfather to Weston Andrepont.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Joseph Andrepont and Gertrude Fontenot Andrepont Marks; stepfather, Alvin Marks; his brother, Willard "Bubba" Andrepont; and two stepbrothers, Richard Marks and Bradley Marks.
Wayne Andrepont leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that will always be remembered by his family and friends. His spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him.
