Wayne BAKER Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shadel's Colonial Chapel - Lebanon on Jan. 13, 2026.
Wayne Loraine Baker, son of Lee and Garcie (Sumner) Baker, was born October 9, 1935, in Competition, Missouri and departed this life January 10, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety years.

Early in life, Wayne made a profession of faith in Christ. He was baptized in the river, in 1945. He spent his younger years in the Mt. Carney Church Community and his adult life, was spent as an active and faithful member of Unity Village Chapel in Lee's Summit, Missouri. The fellowship shared and continued prayers from his church families, over the years, were precious to him.

Wayne attended Lebanon High School and graduated with the class of 1953. He made friends easily and treasured each friendship.

On April 27, 1956, Wayne was united in marriage with the love of his life, Dottie Snow. Together they shared the next fifty-one years of love and laughter, triumphs and tears, side by side. Dottie preceded Wayne in death on February 1, 2008.

Shortly after marriage, Wayne joined the United States Army and proudly served our country for several years. He was stationed in Hawaii for a period of time, which he and Dottie thoroughly enjoyed. After returning home to Missouri, Wayne and Dottie settled in the Kansas City area, where they built their home.

Wayne loved traveling, specifically with his eternal best friend, Dottie. It was very rare to see one without the other. However, nothing compared to the time spent and memories made with his family. He loved them deeply.

Wayne is survived by three sisters-in-law, Shirley Brown of Lebanon, MO and Mary Lou Baker of the state of Texas and Margarette Griffin and her husband Stanley of Conover, NC; several nieces and nephews and their families; other relatives and friends.

Those preceding him in death include his parents, his wife, Dottie on February 1, 2008; two sisters, Mavis Johnson and Margaret Pittenger; and one brother, James Baker.

Wayne will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Memorials have been suggested to Sleep In Heavenly Peace.
