Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home - Braintree on Jan. 17, 2026.
Wayne R. Brundige, Sr., of So. Easton, formerly of Braintree, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on January 14, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on September 9, 1942, in Boston, Wayne was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Galvin) Brundige and the devoted husband of the late Susan A. (O'Connell) Brundige.
Wayne's life was marked by his loving nature, kindness, and handy skills that endeared him to all who knew him. A proud alumnus of Braintree High School, Wayne furthered his education by earning a degree from Northeastern University. His commitment to his country was evident as he served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era.
Following his military service, Wayne embarked on a successful career at the Gillette Company, where he worked diligently for over 25 years and retired as the benefits manager. His work ethic and dedication were matched only by his ability to bring people together, whether through the golf league he ran at Gillette or the annual company picnic he tirelessly organized.
Wayne was a man of many interests and talents. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the camaraderie of the company bowling league. His love for games extended to spirited cribbage matches, a pastime he cherished. A craftsman at heart, Wayne could often be found tinkering around the house and yard, building and fixing anything that needed attention. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through in the furniture refinishing company he operated for many years.
Volunteering was another passion of Wayne's, particularly with the Boy Scouts in Braintree, where he dedicated countless hours to mentoring young individuals. A lifelong Boston Bruins and New England Patriots fan, Wayne's enthusiasm for his favorite teams was infectious.
Above all, Wayne was a family man. He was a loving father to Laureen Wright of Whitman, Kerri Connolly and her husband Henry of Marshfield, Wayne R. Brundige, Jr., of Easton, and Kathleen Dorn and her husband Christopher of Hingham. His role as "Papa" to his grandchildren Dehlia, Destiny, Olivia, Logan, Jayden, Jack, Jenna, and Lindsey was one of his greatest joys. Wayne's love for his family was unparalleled, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is also survived by a dear family friend, Mary Davenport of Plainville, who shared many special memories with Wayne and his family.
Wayne's legacy is one of love, laughter, and service. His ability to entertain at his home and bring joy to those around him will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. Wayne was truly a great guy, and everyone who met him loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. He will be remembered as a man who touched the lives of many, and will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
