Wayne A. Bush, 84, of West Haven, passed away on November 6, 2024. Born December 29, 1939 in Philadelphia to Vincent and Gertrude Tasco Bush. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Carol McCormack Mastropetre Bush. Beloved husband; treasured son; father to Michael (Joyce), Andrew, Anthony, and Karen Bush; stepfather to Michael J., Marc A., and Thomas R. Mastropetre; grandfather to many; and great-grandfather to two. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by son Richard.
Wayne was a veteran of the US Army, though he modestly didn't talk about his service. He thoroughly enjoyed rock music of all kinds, whether it was soft, classic, or hard rock. His favorite bands included Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, and other musical groups that featured a strong guitar presence. Wayne was most relaxed and "at one" with his Gibson Les Paul, strumming and singing all his favorite tunes (although his voice may not have been to everyone's liking).
After retiring from his diesel mechanic career with International Harvester, Wayne enjoyed golf and an occasional meal at Olive Garden, but he really felt that his home was his castle.
A lively conversationalist, Wayne loved a good debate and was enthusiastic about sharing his point of view. He was happiest at home with family, whether it was birthday celebrations, Christmas gatherings, or backyard cookouts. Wayne took pride in his grilling skills, and even blended his own special concoction of a sweet, savory rib sauce. He made sure that there was plenty of potato salad to share.
To know Wayne was to love him, and he will be dearly missed by those who were a part of his world.
Arrangements were entrusted to West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. All services were private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Wayne's name to the West Haven Animal Shelter, 7 Collis Street, West Haven CT 06516.
