Wayne Curtis Obituary

Visit the Legacy Remembers website to view the full obituary.
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Wayne Vernon Curtis, returned home to his Heavenly Father on August 15, 2025, at the age of 95. Wayne was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life.

Wayne was born on March 16, 1930, in Victor, Idaho, to Vernon Eli Curtis and Inez Ricks Curtis. He grew up alongside his sister, Afton (Harvey) Bills, and attended Idaho Falls High School.

On April 24, 1949, Wayne married the love of his life, Nola Bingham, and together they shared a beautiful marriage filled with love, family, and adventure. They were blessed with four children: Douglas (Rita) Curtis, Dianne (Steve) Nissle, Roseann (John) Peterson, and Kristine (Randy) Baker. Wayne cherished his role as a grandfather to 10 grandchildren, great-grandfather to 22, and was joyfully awaiting the arrival of his first great-great-granddaughter. He also had a very special place in his heart for the family dog, Summer.

Wayne dedicated more than 30 years of his career to Mountain Bell Phone Company, where he served as Telephone Pioneer Chapter President and took pride in serving people through his work and attending conventions.

Together, Wayne and Nola managed the Stu Miller Christmas Tree Lot and Pumpkin Stand in California for 18 years, alongside cherished lifelong friends. They loved traveling the world, spending winters in Casa Grande, AZ and later St. George, UT and creating countless memories with family and friends. Wayne enjoyed his daily coffee at Cedric's and taking RZR rides in the beautiful outdoors of Idaho.

Wayne's love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of golfing, horses, hunting, fishing, and farming. He and Nola spent much of their time farming in the Taylor area, where they built a life rooted in faith, family, friendship and hard work.

He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Curtis, his wife, Nola Bingham Curtis, his parents, Vernon and Inez Curtis, and his sister, Afton Bills.

Wayne's life was one of love, devotion, service, and joy. His family takes comfort in the knowledge that they will be reunited again through the eternal promises of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2025 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, Shelley. The family will receive friends Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nalderfuneralhome.com.
