Wayne James Obituary

For 17 years, Rev. James served as the dedicated pastor of Lanier Memorial Baptist Church where his leadership was marked by a genuine love for his congregation and commitment to spread the message of hope.
Later he continued his ministry at 2nd Baptist Church in Charlestown, Indiana further impacting his community. Beyond his pastoral duties, Rev James was known for his vibrant personality and brought life to every party he attended. His love for music was evident as he often wrote and sang songs that inspired others and lifted their spirits.
Rev. James found immense joy in spoiling his grandchildren, spending precious moments playing sports with them and listening to their laughter. Family time was sacred to him and he cherished every moment. Rev. James was also a United States Army veteran.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Anita James; children, Keisha James, Carlisha James, David Orndorff Jr., Bobbie Powell, Lavonda Orndorff; brother, Eddie James Jr.; sisters, Donna James, Karen Fitzgerald, Mary Ann Armsrtong, Mary Ann Brown, Stephanie James, Angela Thompson; 13 grandchildren, Corey James, Isley james, Gensis James, Elijah James, Blessing James, Isiah Orndorff, Daniel Orndorff, La Michael Mudd, Bryan Walsh Jr., Brittany Orndorff, Essence Mudd, Sylas Orndorff, David F. Orndorff III; along with 11 great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 10-1:00pm with service to start at 1pm at House of God's Blessings,901 French St, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

Mr. James was our neighbor for the past 11 years and we loved the way he would sit on the porch and wave to everyone. He and I would stop and talk about life, God, family whatever was on his mind that day. May God bless the family during this time. He once told me that waving to everyone made his neighbors feel more like family. He was a wise man.

So sorry the the loss of Rev. James. There are many memories from the Lanier Memorial Baptist Church, to many to name but the main one is he took me to the water. The walk from 15th to Hale and much more. Prayers to the family.
